Nutrition “Rules” to BE AWESOME: Second Part

Everything Works. Change works.  The novelty of change works.  The key, though, is to change your habits so you’re not jumping from diet to diet trying to find the next, best and greatest ‘thing.’  You shouldn’t have to “change” when you follow simple, sound principles and practice good habits.  A friend told me this morning about a diet that promises a 10 lb weight loss in 10 days.  She said the first meal is 1/4 cup of oatmeal and ONE (1) walnut.  Yes, everything works for a short time.

Eat Beans. Beans are a great source of carbohydrate (see #8), super high in fiber, a decent source of protein and help fill you.  They’re also packed with various vitamins and minerals.  Aim for 1-2 servings daily.Plan Ahead. While not about a specific food, per se, it does change your food choices.  Fail to plan and plan to fail.  We make our menu on a weekend and grocery list from that menu.  We pack Ella’s lunch the night before she goes to her school.  When we forget either of those, our days and week are completely different and we are flying by the seat of our pants, rushing to get things done and making poor choices.  This is maybe the most important rule out of any of them … I promise you, planning ahead will completely transform you mentally and physically.

Fact And Myths on Erectile Dysfunction

A subject like erectile dysfunction is bound to be surrounded with as much legend as fact when it comes to causes and treatments. Check out these six common myths about ED and the facts to dispel the rumors.

Erectile Dysfunction and Age

Myth: ED is just a normal part of growing older and men just have to learn to live with it.

Fact: Although ED is more common among older men, that doesn’t make it “normal” -- or something you just have to live with. It’s not unusual for older men to need more stimulation to help get them aroused than they did when they were younger. But there’s no reason you should have to accept a lack of sexual function as one of the inevitable consequences of getting older. Many men are able to get erections and enjoy sex well into their senior years, and there’s very likely no reason that you can’t be one of them.

Myth: Erectile dysfunction doesn’t hit younger men. It’s only a problem for older guys.

Fact: Although erectile dysfunction is more common in men over 75, men of any age can develop erectile problems.

Be A Better Kisser

There’s nothing like the adrenaline-filled thrill of a first kiss. While I’ve had more than my fair share, some of them were undeniably more memorable than others. Most of them were yummy and delicious and with the right guy -- tingly, sparkly and all the other things that make fireworks go off in your head. Then there are the rest. The kisses that were so poorly executed it made me wonder if the man in question had ever kissed a woman (or anything else, for that matter) before.

One slobbering fellow in particular comes to mind. On paper he was perfect: a 6'2" graphic designer with a blond faux-hawk who lived in my neighborhood. He was well-dressed, sweet and every bit the gentleman, holding open doors and thoughtfully planning out our dates. When he didn’t kiss me on the first date, I was bummed, since we had chemistry, but I chalked it up to shyness. On the second date, when he finally leaned in to kiss me, I felt myself suddenly become nervous. And not in a good way. It was as if my body subconsciously knew his performance would be less than stellar.

He basically shellacked my mouth with saliva. Not only that, but it was almost as though he was trying to eat my face. His mouth was open so wide, I felt like he was tyrannosaurus rex and I was his prey. He topped this off by strangely running his fingers up and down my face as though he were painting stripes on my cheeks. Perplexed, I wondered what exactly he was doing and if he was going to stop. There was zero skill, zero finesse and, on my part, zero fireworks.
